He was a full professor of Modern History and dean of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Salerno. He has taught at American universities. A member of the Royal Academy of History, he is an Officer of Merit of the Republic, a journalist, and a columnist for the Neapolitan pages of "La Repubblica."
