Bracco Roberto

Roberto Bracco (1861-1943) was an influential Italian playwright, journalist, and writer, a leading figure in Neapolitan and Italian theater between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for his prolific output, Bracco distinguished himself with psychological and engaging theater, exploring the depths of the human soul and social contradictions.
His writing spans brilliant comedies and intense dramas, often marked by a clear divide between comedy and drama. A successful author, he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1926. His major works include titles exploring the bourgeoisie and its moral crises. A staunch anti-fascist, he faced censorship by the regime, which hindered his theatrical activity, leading him to die in poverty and solitude in 1943. His legacy lies in his ability to explore the complexity of human relationships with a dry and modern style.
