In an eighteenth-century Naples, spectacular in its pomp and misery, the murder of the sculptor Antonio Corradini takes place. He was hired by the Prince of Sangro—an alchemist and Freemason—to provide the masterpiece still lacking for the allegorical statues of his private church. The Prince's librarian, Jacopo Fucito, immediately suspects that the veiled Christ of unprecedented perfection is somehow connected to the crime. Jacopo thus enters the labyrinth of a story that will bring him into contact with the ruthless intrigues of the Court. A game begins whose players are women of unmatchable beauty, evil teachers, corrupt judges disgusted with themselves, and seductive hermaphrodites. A game in which finding the truth can mean losing oneself.
