In this slim volume, Nando Vitali collects the stories of two characters born of the night, between the fantastical and the real. In the first story, set in the shadows of the heroic "Four Days" of Naples in 1943, Luisella discovers her womanhood – and perhaps finds love – in the arms of a soldier, in the midst of a war that was all wrong. In the pages of the other story, however, we meet the infamous werewolf of Bagnoli, a living legend who, when seen up close, is much more human than fabled. And his name, Zampanò, immediately reveals a "cinematic" debt of magical, Fellini-esque memory. The two stories are enhanced by the illustrations of Luca Dalisi (Luk), illustrator, cartoonist, and narrator, author of "Ollip and the Great Incinerator" and "The Dust of My Boots," and with Gabriele Frasca of the "visual novel" with accompanying illustrations, Il fermo volere.
