When Matteo Ricci sets foot in Naples, he thinks it will be just another ministerial inspection, and he can't even begin to imagine the kind of story he's about to get himself into. Exhausted, troubled by anonymous letters – but even more so by the beautiful Serena – he will find himself punctually on the streets in the dead of night, every night. Thus he will traverse the city, brushing against a long carousel of stories and lives that will all, in some way, intersect and overlap with his own. A crowd of actors and extras inscribed in the grand, painful pattern of a city without a history, which will be dramatically disrupted, like the life of poor Matteo Ricci.
