Verdinois Federigo

A journalist, writer, and prolific translator, Federigo Verdinois was a central figure in Neapolitan cultural life between the 19th and 20th centuries. Known for his witty pen and clear style, he collaborated with the major newspapers of his time (such as Corriere del Mattino), narrating the shifts in Neapolitan society with both irony and empathy. However, his most precious contribution remains his tireless work as a translator: it was through him that Italians were introduced to the great Russian masters, such as Dostoevsky and Tolstoy, translated with extraordinary linguistic sensitivity. In Colonnese’s editions, Verdinois is rediscovered not only as a chronicler of "Napoli Nobilissima", but as a European intellectual capable of bridging the Gulf with the world's great literary currents.
