He teaches "History of the Mafia" at the Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples and is a columnist for the daily newspaper Il Mattino. He was Undersecretary of the Treasury in the first Prodi government. He is the author of several essays on Southern Italy. A scholar of the Camorra phenomenon, he has published several essays on the topic. He has published "History of Mafia Italy" (2015), "Priests and Mafiosi" (2016), and "History of Corrupt Italy" (2019) for Rubbettino; and, together with Enzo Ciconte and Francesco Forgione, he edited the "Atlas of the Mafia."
