(Moscow 1878 - Lyne Place 1947) was an influential Russian philosopher and mystic. He also devoted himself to the study of the occult sciences and later became very close to the figure of the Master Gurjieff, learning his teachings and accompanying him in his work. He wrote many essays, including The Fourth Way: Discourses and Dialogues According to the Teachings of G. I. Gurjieff, Fragments of an Unknown Teaching, and The Inner Evolution of Man.
