An essayist and film critic, he wrote for Il Mattino for nearly twenty years and currently contributes to Alias (a weekly supplement to Il Manifesto and Diari di Cineclub. The author of numerous essays and volumes on Franchi and Ingrassia, Douglas Sirk, Carlo Verdone, Clint Eastwood, Paul Schrader, comedy, and dubbing, he was an adjunct professor of Film Semiology at the University of Salerno and has served on the Fipresci (International Federation of Film Critics) juries at numerous festivals.
